If you publish art, who are your favorite artists? At Lilith's Diaries we publish both literature and art. My favourite writer currently has to be Donna Tartt (The Secret History is undefeated) and as for art, I'm not too caught up on different artists, so I'll play it safe and pick Van Gogh as I love The Starry Night.Liberty, Founder on 21 April 2025What sets your publication apart from others that publish similar material? We are into obscure writing that captivates a reader. Something weird; something strange; something soul destroying; something horrifying.Liberty, Founder on 21 April 2025What is the best advice you can give people who are considering submitting work to your publication?Write something strange, reach for weird.Liberty, Founder on 21 April 2025Describe the ideal submission.Work that makes me and my designer (Priya) talk about for ages.Liberty, Founder on 21 April 2025What do submitters most often get wrong about your submissions process? Not reading the submission guidelines. It makes everything easier if you submit in the correct format, and following the correct rules.Liberty, Founder on 21 April 2025How much do you want to know about the person submitting to you?Nothing matters to us. You can have loads of publication credits, or zero. We just want work that evokes emotion.Liberty, Founder on 21 April 2025If you publish writing, how much of a piece do you read before making the decision to reject it?I always read the whole thing.Liberty, Founder on 21 April 2025What additional evaluations, if any, does a piece go through before it is accepted? Not much, if its good: its good. Me and my designer Priya like to look over the accepted submissions, or nearly accepted, together.Liberty, Founder on 21 April 2025What is a day in the life of an editor like for you?Initially, we send out response emails to let the submitter know that their work has been acknowledged (or not, if sent in the wrong format or not following submission guidelines) and we will let them know of any rejection or submission in due time. Then, we will look over all submissions and make decisions, and send back an email if you have been rejected or accepted.Liberty, Founder on 21 April 2025How much do you edit an accepted piece prior to publication? We like to ask the owner of the work if they would like me to go over any mistakes (if I haven't noticed that there are any) and if they say yes, I'll do just that and send them back the copy for confirmation.Liberty, Founder on 21 April 2025Do you nominate work you've published for any national or international awards? We do not, but this does not mean we won't.Liberty, Founder on 21 April 2025 Cookie Consent: This site uses secure first-party cookies for essential, preference-setting, and statistical purposes.
