What other current publications (or publishers) do you admire most?

Gob Pile Press
Burial Magazine
Back Patio Press
House of Vlad
Rejection Letters
Revolution John

If you publish writing, who are your favorite writers? If you publish art, who are your favorite artists?

Larry Brown

Scott McClanahan

What sets your publication apart from others that publish similar material?

I don’t see us as “apart” from the other presses.

What is the best advice you can give people who are considering submitting work to your publication?

Be familiar with what we publish. Read the guidelines.

Describe the ideal submission.

These questions are not feeling worthwhile.

What do submitters most often get wrong about your submissions process?

Not being familiar with the journal. Also, word count.

How much do you want to know about the person submitting to you?

I don’t care about cover letters. Previous publications mean nothing to me.

If you publish writing, how much of a piece do you read before making the decision to reject it?

It depends.

What additional evaluations, if any, does a piece go through before it is accepted?

Each piece is different and is treated as such.

What is a day in the life of an editor like for you?

I open the submission email, click the doc, and read it.

How much do you edit an accepted piece prior to publication?

Our level of editing varies. The author approves final edits but publication may depend on those final edits.

Do you nominate work you've published for any national or international awards?

No.

How is your project funded?

Day job.

How do you promote your project and published authors/artists?

On social media.
